Bakker Repair + Services and Van Geffen AMS begin a collaboration in vibration analysis and reliability services

Bakker Repair + Services and Van Geffen Allround Machine Support team up to provide independent vibration analysis on electrical motors and generators. With the analysis and data gained, existing problems will be detected at an earlier stage. This allows both companies to provide the best service for their client while preventing increased damage to the machines.

Early intervention through vibration analysis

Bakker Repair + Services previously outsourced the vibration analysis to specialized companies however, in order to offer its customers a complete repair package, decided to carry out the analysis in-house again. The expertise of Van Geffen AMS in asset and database management provides expert training for a technical specialist and six service engineers within Bakker Repair + Services. The use of remote support offered by Van Geffen AMS provides technical analysis in the field of rotor and structural dynamics.

Service from A to Z – the process

Our service engineers place tri-axial or fixed sensors on the electrical motors and generators. The data is stored within the vibration equipment and transmitted wirelessly to the server. 
After the transfer, the data is stored in a cloud-based database for trend and/or detailed analyses. Spectrum and time signal analyses provide insight into the mechanical condition of the asset and enable the identification of undesirable/disadvantageous vibrations; these might be caused due to an imbalance in the electrical motor or generator, damage to bearings or other problems such as misalignment. Sales Engineer, Sander Peters commented that: “By carrying out vibration analysis, the health status of a machine may be determined relatively quickly”. “This enables Bakker Repair + Services to prevent a possible catastrophic failure of the machine. Our intention remains to service our customers from A to Z. and by including vibration analysis into our portfolio expands our complete solution. The advantage for the customer is that they can be helped faster and more efficiently if all inspections and service can be done by a single engineer, stated Account Manager Robert Van Slobbe”

Valuable collaboration

Bakker Repair + Services carries out repairs and services worldwide for the industrial industry, maritime sector and offshore. The company has the largest workshop within the Netherlands where motors of all kilowatt range and sizes are expertly repaired and overhauled. In addition, the company has a full team of service engineers who are deployed on various sites. Van Geffen AMS is specialized in preventing and solving problems with machines, foundations and constructions. Both companies have been working together for many years.
